Living Room Remodeling Tips
When considering living room remodeling, there aren’t really as many options as you would find in a kitchen or a bathroom remodel. Your living room is basically four walls with doors in them and some windows.
Let’s start with the flooring. What are your options in a living room?
Carpet – There are a million different textures, materials and color combinations. Carpeting adds comfort, durability, non-slick safety and noise reduction. Our suggestion with the color is to not go crazy with it. It is much better to find a nice neutral carpet you are comfortable with and then add color on the walls and furniture. Carpet is a big investment and if you get tired of it, it will be a while before you will be able to replace it.
Hardwood – Hardwood flooring enhances any room. Fine hardwood floors can increase the value of your home. They last for years if cared for properly. Hardwood flooring has many benefits including durability and allergen reduction. Consider the moisture and humidity levels in your area to get the best option for your living room remodeling project.
Tile – Tile isn’t quite as popular as other living room flooring ideas, but is gaining in popularity as tile designs and materials improve. Tile is the most durable of your flooring options and is resistant to moisture and humidity. It is also great for allergy reduction.
When you are planning to remodel your living room, lighting is a big concern. How much light do you need? Will table lamps do the job or will you need some overhead lighting?
